Richmond is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Richmond has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- The Wood River, which flows through Richmond, is home to several species of fish, including brown trout and American eel. Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck at the river, which is known for its picturesque beauty.
- If you're a fan of horseback riding, Richmond has several equestrian centers where you can take lessons, go on trail rides or even board your horse. One of the most popular is the Preserve Sporting Club & Residences, which offers guided trail rides and carriage rides.
- For a taste of local flavor, stop by the Richmond Farmers Market, held every Saturday from May through October. Here you can find fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts and more from local vendors.
- The Arcadia Management Area, located partially in Richmond, is the largest recreational area in Rhode Island, spanning over 14,000 acres. It offers hiking, fishing, hunting and camping opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.
- Richmond is also home to the Meadowbrook Golf Course, an 18-hole public course that offers challenging play for golfers of all skill levels. The course is known for its scenic views and well-manicured greens.
