Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza Slated for Saturday
The East Smithfield Public Library is hosting its egg-cellent annual Easter event for kids ages 2-4 this Saturday.

Spring is officially here, which means that Easter and all of its fun traditions are just around the corner!
Did you know that one of the most popular Easter activities, the Easter Egg Hunt, began right here in America when German immigrants brought their Osterhase (the German name for the Easter Bunny) tradition to Pennsylvania in the 1700s? Osterhase was said to have decorated eggs that he would then hide in people's gardens for them to find on Easter Sunday.

The tradition soon spread across the country, becoming most common in the 20th Century. Eventually, nests were replaced by baskets and the game evolved into a type of treasure hunt complete with prizes of chocolate, toys, candy and coins. Still to this day, in many families, the Easter Bunny leaves a basket filled with gifts, not just eggs to find on Easter morning.
On Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m., East Smithfield Public Library is hosting its own Annual Easter Egg Hunt Extravaganza for children ages 2-4.

The popular annual event sponsored by Friends of the East Smithfield Library will allow the kiddos to have some Easter fun as they hunt for an abundance of eggs hidden for them by the library bunny!
Families are asked to bring their own baskets for gathering up the goodies, and don't forget your camera to capture all the fun.
Registration is required and can be done in person at the Library or by calling 401-231-5150.
