Lucia C. "Lucy" Carvalho: Worked at East Smithfield Library
The Smithfield resident passed away on Nov. 27, 2012.

Lucia C. "Lucy" (Acciaioli) Carvalho, 91, of Hill Avenue, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the loving wife of the late Raymond Carvalho.
Born in Providence, Lucy was a daughter of the late Ernesto and Maria (Verrecchia) Acciaioli.

She had worked at the East Smithfield Public Library from 1973 until her retirement in 2010. She was Past President of the Knights of Columbus St. Lawrence Council Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and knitter. For many years, Lucy enjoyed knitting slippers for kindergarten children in various Providence schools, as well as sharing her many talents with other charitable organizations.
She is survived by her children: Ellen C. Ogrodnik and her husband, Alan, of Coventry; Jean M. Potvin and her companion, Charles Wood, of Greenville; Paul J. “PJ” Carvalho and his wife, Dawn, of Lincoln; and she was lovingly known as Grandma Moose to her grandchildren: Tracey Keegan, Billy Potvin, Ashley and PJ Carvalho and Raymond and Raeayna Burrows, and her great-grandchildren: Sydney, Madelynn and Kaydee Keegan. She was the mother of the late Raymond M. Carvalho.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.
Visitation Friday 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Michael's Church or East Smithfield Public Library, 50 Esmond Street, Smithfield, RI 02917.
