Monday Five: Give Blood, Musical Rain Date, Utility Survey, Relay

Good morning, Smithfield - check out these things to know:

 

Give Blood - On Wednesday, June 19 the Rhode Island Blood Center Bloodmobile will be at the Stop & Shop, 446 Putnam Pike, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Music tomorrow - Due to the weather, last Tuesday's Musical Night at the gazebo was canceled. Come back next week for the Nancy Carr Trio from 6-8pm on June 18 at The Crossing at Smithfield

National Grid survey - National Grid will be conducting a leakage survey in Smithfield. Grid officials will be going door to door and may be seen walking on private property in order to read outside meters. Those meters that are not accessible. officials will ask for access to the residence to check the meter. Those residents who are not home, a notice will be left in the door. All survey officials must wear photo identification.

The survey is expected to last until the end of 2013. A list of survey personnel, their dates of births and the vehicles they drive has been submitted to the Police Department. You may call the Smithfield Police Department at 231-2500 with any questions or concerns.

Relay Smithfield's Relay for Life - an all-night walking relay, party and fundraiser to bolster research into a cure and treatments for cancer - is coming up June 22 at Smithfield High School's track, 90 Plesant View Ave.  Mark it off on your calendar, look up relayers and donate to their teams, or join up. 

Y swim lesson house calls - Smithfield YMCA will come to your house for swim lessons this summer. If you have a pool, or know somebody who does, call the YMCA and book your very own backyard pool swim lessons. You can also invite friends and split the cost with them for professionally taught swim lessons, by a certified instructor and lifeguard. Call 401-949-2480.
