The following arrest information was provided by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On Friday, May 10, at 12:51 p.m., Smithfield Police Officer Michael Proulx was called to the front of Alpine Motel at 485 Douglas Pike for a report of physical struggle.
When he arrived, according to his report, he saw Derrick Pfeiler, 31, of 108 Underwood Ave., Warren, with a cane, walking away from a nearby bus stop, where a woman was sitting, crying.

Proulx instructed Pfeiler to drop the cane and stop, and the man did so, seating himself on the grass nearby. He told Proulx he and his wife, who were estranged, had an arugment about money and he was walking away from the situation. He said the argument had not gotten physical.
A witness at the scene contradicted that statement, saying Pfeiler had grabbed the woman and thrown her into a nearby telephone pole. The woman confirmed the witness's version of events.
