Smithfield Police Log: Break-in, Malicous Damage, Embezzlement

Thursday, May 30:

  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to Dillon Lane for a breaking and entering of a home. The break-in was discovered after officers received an alarm from the address.
  • Officers responded to a number of minor traffic accidents, including one on Hattie Avenue, one on Putnam Pike, and two in parking lots of Dave's Marketplace and Stop & Shop, respectively.

Friday, May 31: 

  • At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield police arrested Juan Gonzalez, 30, on a warrant for failing to appear in court on a suspended license charge.
  • At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield police responded to Sovereign Bank for a report of malicious damage. An irate customer broke the glass on the bank's exit door.

Saturday, June1:

  • Smithfield Police responded to a report of a larceny of two ATVs from a Farnum Pike address. The ATVs were described as a blue 2001 Yamaha and a green 2004 Baha. 
  • Smithfield Police responded to a reported larceny of a wallet from a vehicle at Old County School.
  • Smithfield Police arrested Daniel Gautreau, 51, for domestic simple assault.

Sunday, June 2:

  • Smithfield Police arrested Emmanue Barbosa, 22, on a warrant for embezzlement and fraudulent conversion.
  • Smithfield Police responded to a call of two people swimming in a prohibited area at Georgiaville Beach.
  • Smithfield police responded for a verbal dispute between two people at Georgiaville Beach. No formal complaints were filed, and both persons were escorted away from the beach.
