Smithfield Police Log: July 1- 4: Stolen Steel, Break-Ins, Backhoe Dispute
The following information was provided by the Smithfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Editor's note: The following is a partial account of the incidents Smithfield Police responded to during the noted dates:
Monday, July 1:
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police responded to John Roccio Corp., 20 Lark Industrial Drive, for a report of 30 three-foot square plates stolen.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a Greenlake Drive residence for a report of cyber harassment.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police took a report from a resident at the Village at Waterman Lake retirement community who said her son, who has power of attorney over her, was taking money from her bank account.
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police investigated a report of suspicious activity at Holiday Inn Express. Three girls were brought to the station from the hotel, and officers investigated the area for a report of underaged drinking.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police arrested Kyle Perron, 22, for driving with a suspended license.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to Kohl's at 371 Putnam Pike for a report of shoplifting.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to 8 Breezy Knoll Road for a report of a neighbor using a backhoe and leaving debris in the road.
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Kristian Watkins, 36, for failing to appear in court on a suspended license charge.
- At about 3:45 p.m, Smithfield Police responded to a report of three break-ins: One on Whipple Road and two on Stillwater Road.
- At about 11:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to a dispute between Michael Romeo and Lawrence Iadevaia on Breezy Knoll Road.
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police arrested Jeffrey Freitas, 52, for DUI.
- At about 7:45 a.m., Smithfield Police responded to the area of Rte. 116 and John Mowry Road for a car hitting a deer.
- At about 3:45 p.m., Smithfield Police responded to 8 Breezy Knoll Road for a complaint by Lawrence Iadevaia about Michael Romeo's operation of a back hoe.
