Thursday Five: Walkathon Tomorrow, Road Work Today, Give Blood, Memorial Day
The long weekend is nearly here - check out these things to know:

Walkathon tomorrow - Friday May 24 is the Old County Road School Walkathon. Students, teachers, and staff of (OCRS) will participate in a walk-a-thon coordinated by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Contributions raised by the event will go to general funds and used for various PTA initiatives. Families are encouraged to attend. The event begins at 8:45 a.m, rain or shine. Road Work Today- RIDOT reports Stillwater Road, between Capron Road and Forte Trail at the I-295 overpass, may be subject to various lane closures for bridge inspection today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Give blood - The Rhode Island Blood Center Bloodmobile will be at Kohl's, 370 Putnam Pike Smithfield from 3 to 6 p.m. today. No appointment is necessary.
Memorial Day notes - Smithfield Town Hall will be closed on Monday, May 27, Memorial Day. There is also no Trash Pickup on Monday, May 27, Memorial Day. Trash pickup will be delayed one day the rest of the week.

Memorial Day Service - American Legion Balfour-Cole Post 64 along with Smithfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2929 and its Ladies Auxiliary, will hold a joint memorial service at the Veterans’ Memorial, Deerfield Park, Smithfield, on Monday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m.
A parade of colors will kick off the ceremony at 10:30 AM with honor guards from the Smithfield Police Department and the Smithfield Fire Department.
As in past years, this ceremony will be solemn and inspirational for all. We expect participation from the Gallagher Middle School chorus as well as the Smithfield Chorus.
