Wednesday Five: Dinos, Finlay and Sharing, Bugs, Food Drive

School is over. Summer is starting. There are things to be known:

 

Dinosaurs - On Friday, June 28 check out Dinoman Dinosaurs! for families with children ages 4 to 10 at the Greenville Public Library from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Dinoman will entertain and inform all about dinosaurs using fun, incredible props and life-size dinosaurs. Registration is required. To register, call 949-3630 x2.

Finlay on shared services - Operation Clean Government (OCG) will sponsor a public forum, “ from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Smithfield Senior Center, 1 Wm. J. Hawkins Jr. Trail.

Panelists include Dennis Finlay, Smithfield town manager, and Paulette Hamilton, North Smithfield town administrator. 

Insect classifcation -  This insect workshop will introduce participants to the phylogeny and classification of insects and will be a precursor to future insect field workshops. Adults. Member Fee: $10/member. Non-Member Fee: $15/non-member. Instructor Kim Calcagno. Register at the Audubon site. Life underneath - There are few childhood experiences more pure than exploring woods and fields. Let's romp through the forest and learn about the animals that make their homes under the logs, rocks and bark. Dress for dirt and avoid applying any insect repellent or sunscreen on the hands as we will be seeking and touching small creatures. Organized by: Audubon Society of RI. Intended Audience: Children. ASRI Age Range: 3+. Member Fee: $5/member child. Non-Member Fee: $6/non-member. sInstructor: Kim Calcagno. Summer Food Drive - Hampton Inn & Suites Providence/Smithfield has officially kicked off their Summer Food Drive. Most needed items for the RI Food Pantry are canned fruits, vegetables, soups and stews, canned or dries beans, whole wheat pasta, breakfast cereals, peanut butter, brown rice and tuna. Donations can be dropped off at the hotel, 945 Douglas Pike, or call 401-232-9200 for a pick up.
