16 RI Ponds, Lakes Getting Stocked With Trout, Salmon For Veterans Day

See where you can catch rainbow trout, brook trout, and Sebago Atlantic salmon in Rhode Island during the Veterans Day weekend.

RHODE ISLAND — In honor of veterans who like to enjoy their Veterans Day with a little fishing, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is stocking 16 ponds and lakes across the state with rainbow trout, brook trout, and Sebago Atlantic salmon.

DEM officials said the fish stocking began Tuesday and will continue through Friday.

"Stocking fish in popular water bodies is a gesture by which DEM honors Rhode Island veterans for their service, sacrifice, and duty done," DEM Director Terry Gray said. "We hope many veterans will get outside and drop a line in the water this weekend."
