DUI and Narcotics, Deer Impacts, Illegal Dumping: Little Compton Police Log

Plus, a man runs away from police when they respond to a domestic complaint.

The following information was provided by Little Compton police. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

Little Compton police charged a 21-year-old Somerset, Mass., woman with driving under the influence and narcotics possession after she was stopped for swerving on West Main Road on Nov. 2.

Police said Ashley Silva failed a field sobriety test and later was found to be in possession of a scheduled drug, according to a police report. She was arraigned and released on personal recognizance and is due to return to court on Dec. 3 for a screening conference.

Silva was stopped at around 6:50 p.m. after officers on patrol saw her swerving.

OBSTRUCTION
Police charged Roger Chasse, 50, of 176 Willow Ave., Little Compton, with obstruction of justice Nov. 7 at 11:13 p.m. after police responded to his address for a domestic report.

When officers arrived, Chasse gave chase but was quickly caught after he “took off running,” according to a police report.

CARS VS. ANIMALS
Motorists in Little Compton had several run-ins with deer recently.

On NOv. 5, a 72-year-old town man hit a deer on Sakonnet Point Road at about 7:25 a.m. when the animal ran in front of his car. The impact caused damage to his car but he was not hurt and drove the car from the scene.

On Nov. 6 at around 11:34 a.m., a 57-year-old town woman hit a deer on Colebrook Road when it ran out in front of her car. She swerved to avoid it and struck a group of 10 mailboxes. Fortunately, she was not hurt and was able to drive from the scene with some damage, police said.

On Nov. 8, a 32-year-old Westport woman struck a deer on West Main Road at around 5:30 p.m. She said the deer ran in front of her car causing damage to the front end. She wasn’t hurt and drove from the scene as well.

FRAUD
A Patchet Brook Road resident reported that someone was using her address to obtain credit cards. Police documented the incident on Nov. 2.

DUMPING
Police are investigating a report of illegal dumping on Watson Way.

Officers responded to the area and met with a person who showed them a pile of construction debris left on the side of the road sometime before Nov. 3.

DOG BITES
An oil delivery man was attacked by a dog while making a delivery to an Oak Forrest Drive residence on Nov. 6. Police said he suffered injuries to his hand and leg. The matter is being investigated.

On Nov. 13, a resident reported that while walking her dog on Oak Forrest Drive, it was attacked by two other dogs. Police are investigating.

FAMILY DISPUTE
An Old Main Road resident reported an issue with a family member on Nov. 11. Police said officers responded to the address, “spoke with everyone involved and the issue was resolved.”
