DUI, Phone Scams, Woman Falls Asleep Before Crashing: Little Compton Police
Recent arrests and incidents reported by Little Compton police.

LITTLE COMPTON, RI—Members of the Little Compton police department arrested a Tiverton man for driving under the influence, investigated an accident caused by a driver who fell asleep behind the wheel and other incidents last week.
Here is a list of reports provided by police for the period between Sept. 19 and 26.

On Sept. 21, a Douglas, MA woman fell asleep while driving on Maple Avenue and struck an embankment before stopping at the foundation of a house, police said. The driver was not hurt and there was no structural damage to the house.

Police charged a 63-year-old Tiverton man with driving under the influence on Sept. 25 at around 1:06 p.m.
Police said Bruce L. Vierra was driving erratically on Meetinghouse Lane before he was stopped and arrested after a brief investigation, police said. He was arraigned by a justice of the peace and released with a future court date.
Police also arrested two people for driver's license-related infractions. On Sept, 21, a 24-year-old Fall River, MA woman was charged with driving with an expired license and a 56-year-old Little Compton man was charged with driving with a suspended license on Sept. 25.
Incidents
On Sept, 20, police responded to a West Main Road address to transport a stray dog to Sakonnet Veterinary Hospital.
Between Sept. 19 and 26, police received four reports of attempted phone scams from callers pretending to be from the Internal Revenue Service. Each resident did not give out any personal information, police said.
On Sept. 22, a Pottersville Road man told police that a package was stolen from his mailbox.
