Flora and Ulysses Come to Tiverton
This summer's selection for Kids Read Across Rhode Island will come to life at Sandwoods on May 21.

Flora and Ulysses is the humorous and heart-warming story of a precocious 10-year-old girl and her unlikely friend and superhero, a squirrel.
It is this summer’s selection for the Kids Read Across Rhode Island program for students in grades 3-6. This engaging story, written by Kate DiCamillo, won the Newberry Award in 2014. It’s wonderful illustrations are the work of K. G. Campbell.
On Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. the book’s characters will come to life in a play at Sandywoods’ Community Building, adjacent to the new Tiverton Library. Teens in the Stage Write program at Trinity Rep have worked with theater professionals to adapt the book into this 45-minute traveling performance piece. Two of the actors in the teen troupe are Tiverton residents, Emma Becker and Addison Cox.
