High school artists: don't miss out! This simple grant application is at SouthCoastArtists.org only for the month of September. Apply today!
Emerging young artists who are current high school students in the towns of Dartmouth and Westport, Massachusetts; and Tiverton and Little Compton, Rhode Island are invited to apply for a South Coast Artists, Inc. micro-grant in September. According to youth grants chairperson Heather Stivison, these $500 grants are designed to encourage emerging young artists to explore their field of interest by helping cover costs of art materials and supplies, art related travel, training, classes, apprenticeships, or other expenses toward the completion of a creative project or goal. Applications can be downloaded from southcoastartists.org and must be submitted by October 2, 2017. A recommendation from a nonfamily member is required.
The South Coast Artists, Inc. is a federally approved 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation that encourages and fosters artistic growth and recognition among Massachusetts and Rhode Island Artists. They are best known for their annual Open Studio Tours. Through its programming, South Coast Artists, Inc. (SCA) gives access to the work of visual artists living and working in the townships of Dartmouth and Westport, MA and Tiverton and Little Compton, RI. The South Coast Artists’ micro-grant program was established in 2014 as part of SCA’s ongoing educational mission. The grant was created in memory of Poole Barker, a young exhibiting member of SCA, who came from a family of artists and creators, and was a dedicated artist in her own right. The micro-grant program is designed to help other young artists with their creative pursuits. Members South Coast Artists, Inc. hope to encourage Poole’s spirit of creativity, joy and exploration to live on in these grants.
