TIVERTON, RI—Roads and sidewalks could be slippery on Thursday morning due to ice. The National Weather Service on Wednesday night issued a special weather statement for part of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. It applies to Newport, Bristol, Eastern Kent and Southeast Providence counties. Here is the statement.
...Locally icy conditions developing into early Thursday morning...
Patchy light snow and rain continues across eastern Massachusetts
into eastern Rhode Island this evening. With temperatures hovering
at or just below freezing at ground level, along with some
leftover wet spots, some patchy ice may form especially on
untreated roadways and sidewalks.
The light precipitation should taper off by around midnight, but
icy ground conditions may linger into the early morning hours.
Motorists and pedestrians should watch out for locally slippery
conditions when venturing out of doors during the early morning
hours Thursday.
