Nor'Easter To Bring Damaging Winds, Power Outages

With the memories of days without electicity fresh in residents minds just one week after Hurricane Sandy, the National Weather Service is predicting stong wind gusts and more outages from an approaching Nor'Easter.

A high wind warning is in effect from 10 a.m. through 1 a.m. on Thursday and gusts up to 60 mph are expected.

"Damage to trees, power lines and property are possible with wind of this magnitude," reads the NWS advisory. "Power outages are likely. Take action now to secure any loose outdoor objects." 

A coastal flood advisory is also in effect today during the high tide cycle from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. 

"A coastal flood advisory is issued for minor coastal flooding of the most vulnerable shore roads and basements due to the height of storm tide or wave splashover," said the NWS advisory. "The majority of roads will remail passable with only isolated closures. There is no significant threat threat to life and any impact on property is minimal."

Parts of northern Rhode Island and western New England could see minimal snowfall as a result of the storm.
