North Tiverton News Store Damaged by Fire

Fire broke out at the store Thursday night, causing fire, water and smoke damage.

TIVERTON, RI—The North Tiverton News shop on Main Road suffered fire, smoke and water damage after a fire Thursday night.

Firefighters were dispatched at around 7:45 a.m. for reports of smoke coming from the second floor.

Crews arrived to find fire in the ceiling and walls and got to work putting out the flames to prevent the fire from spreading and causing catastrophic damage.

Nobody was injured.

The store owners, Harry and Jenny Patel, live in the apartment above the store. Jenny Patel told the Fall River Herald News that she was home alone when she saw smoke and called 911.
