Police Find Break-In Suspect in Jail Serving Time for Different Break-In

Barrington police are charging a Tiverton man for a September break-in at Beltone Hearing Aid Center after he gave a jailhouse confession.

BARRINGTON, RI—Barrington detectives have cracked the case of a September break-in and theft of money at Beltone Hearing Aid Center and their suspect—a 52-year-old Tiverton man—is already in jail.

Jeffery Bostock, of Tiverton, will be charged with breaking and entering by Barrington Police and is currently serving time in Barstable County House of Correction in Massachusetts, said Barrington Police Chief John M. LaCross.

Bostock was convicted of a similar crime he committed on Orleans, Mass., and came to the attention of Barrington police as their suspect after pictures taken from the Beltone break-in were shared with local media and detectives across the state.

Eventually, Barrington police got a tip that it might be Bostock, who has a lengthy criminal history with more than 90 arrests in Massachusetts alone.

LaCross said that Barrington investigators spoke with Bostock’s brother who said he was in jail. They also noticed the suspect vehicle from the Beltone crime parked in the driveway.

Orleans police told Barrington police that Bostock told them he was “all over the news” and was wanted by Rhode Island police, LaCross said.

On Dec. 8, Barrington School Resource Officer Josh Melo and Det. Ben Ferreira went to the Barnstable County House of Correction and interviewed Bostock, who refused to talk at first but eventually gave a full confession.

Bostock will be presented as a probation violator in addition to facing the new breaking and entering charge upon extradition to Rhode Island, LaCross said.
