Tiverton-Little Compton Athletes Complete Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run

Geoff Nelson was the top runner at 20:39.

On Sunday morning, Geoff Nelson of Providence was first to cross the finish line of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority’s Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run, sponsored by Newport Hospital.

However, he was followed by many more than three dozen Tiverton-Little Compton residents.

Of the 2,500 people who entered, 2,218 athletes crossed the finish line of the four-mile course. The youngest competitors were four eight-year olds, and the oldest was Helen DiDonato of South Kingstown, who celebrated her 88th birthday on Sunday.
