Power Outages: National Grid Reports
With almost 50,000 Rhode Island customers still in the dark, National Grid says crews will need two more days to restore everyone's power

BRISTOL, RI — Almost 50,000 Rhode Island households are still waiting for their power to come back on, National Grid said Tuesday. As of 10:16 p.m., 49, 735 were in the dark, the company said. According to the outage map, more than 3,000 were in North Kingstown and more than 3,000 in South Kingstown. Coventry was just under 3,000. In Cranston, close to 1,300 were affected. Bristol still had more than 1,200 out.
"We expect to return power to the majority of customers by tomorrow, and crew support from as far as Florida helped us restore over 64% of the 154,000 total outages thus far," National Grid said. "Today's focus is on nursing homes, schools, and shelters."
But some customers will not see service restored until Thursday night.
As always, the company advises people to steer clear of downed power lines and report any outages. The health department is also reminding people to throw away perishable food in the refrigerator, if power has been off more than four hours.
