RI COVID-19 Rates By Town: Where Tiverton, Little Compton Rank

Central Falls has recorded the highest rates of cases, with more than 23,000 cases per 100,000 people.

TIVERTON-LITTLE COMPTON, RI — A year and a half into the coronavirus pandemic in Rhode Island, some communities have seen far higher rates of cases than others.

There are 39 cities and towns in Rhode Island, widely ranging in population density, geography and popularity as a tourist destination. For a better direct comparison, the Rhode Island Department of Health determined how each community did based on the number of cases per 100,000 people. The data dashboard also breaks down the total number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each town since March 2020.

To date, Central Falls has had the highest rate of coronavirus cases, at 23,166 per 100,000 people. That's more than 25 percent higher than Providence, which is in second place at 18,325 cases per 100,000 people. Richmond, meanwhile, has had the lowest case rate in the state at just 5,376 per 100,000 people.

Tiverton ranked near the middle when it came to cases per 100,000 people at number 25, while Little Compton has reported the second-lowest in the state. Here's how the numbers break down:
