Seagulls Wait For The Lobster Boats On The Sakonnet

Tiverton resident Carolyn D'Arpino took this photograph showing the thaw along the Sakonnet River where lobster boats could navigate.

TIVERTON, RI—After the deep freeze, part of the Sakonnet River thawed, creating a path for the lobster boats to navigate, Tiverton's Carolyn D'Arpino said. She took this photograph of the river and some seagulls seemingly waiting for some dinner to arrive. The gulls, birds and other wildlife had trouble finding food, during the extreme cold, a wildlife expert said, but the thaw will allow the birds and ducks to find fish and vegetation.
