Tiverton Student Headlines Godspell Production

TIVERTON, RI — Tiverton's John Sheppard will star in the Norton Singers' upcoming "Godspell" production.

"This show presents a modern interpretation of the Gospel with rousing song and dance numbers in the style of such classic rock operas as "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Tommy," said Joan Geddrt, publicist. "A group of youthful and diverse disciples led by John the Baptist (played by John Sheppard, of Tiverton) form a roving acting troupe that enacts the teachings of Jesus (Bill Stiles, of North Easton, Mass.) Memorable songs include the hit song "Day by Day" and "Learn Your Lessons Well".

The musical is the group's major fundraiser this December, she said.

Performance dates are Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m.at the Norton Middle School, Route 123, Norton.

Advance ticket prices are $20 for seniors and students; $23 general admission; and all tickets at the door are $26. There is a special student ticket price of $18 on opening night only for those high school and college students who present a valid school ID.
