Tiverton Town Councilor, Former Firefighter Joseph Perry Dies
Joseph Perry, 73, was a founding member of the Tiverton Junior Youth Basketball League.

TIVERTON, RI — Tiverton Town Councilor Joseph Perry died on Saturday, town officials announced Monday.
Town officials said Perry, 73, died peacefully at home and was surrounded by family. Born on March 11, 1950, Perry was a 1972 graduate of Tiverton High School.
In addition to his time as a town councilor, Perry also served as a Tiverton firefighter and EMT for more than 30 years. He was also a member of the U.S. Army National Guard.

"Joe was a community supporter and founding member of Tiverton Junior Youth Basketball League, where he devoted over 50 years to Tiverton’s youth, a member of the North Tiverton Volunteer Fire Department, Tiverton Recreation Commission, Tiverton Cemetery Commission, and a Knights of Columbus member," a town spokesperson said in a statement. "Joe expanded his community contributions by being elected for the past seven years as a Tiverton Town Councilor."
Town officials expressed condolences to family members, Brenda, M (Arruda) his wife of 49 years; brother Carlton Perry (wife Debra) of Cantebury CT; daughter Cherilyn Courville (husband Michael) of Fairhaven MA; Son Joseph A. Perry (wife Kerri) of Tiverton; daughter Jennifer Perry (fiancé Aaron Almeida) of Port St, Lucie, FL; daughter Sara Perry (companion Daniel Baxter) of Mesa, AZ; son Jonathan Perry (wife Haylee) of Port St. Lucie, FL; his eighteen grandchildren, a niece, nephew, many cousins and close friends.

Arrangements will be provided by Pocasset Funeral Home at 426 Main Road in Tiverton. Visiting hours are 4p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral will be held at St. Theresa Church on 265 Stafford Road in Tiverton at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
