Tiverton Woman Dies After Her Car Catches Fire When Striking Tree
Tiverton first responders found a gray 2014 Subaru Impreza had left the road, struck a tree, and was engulfed in flames.
TIVERTON, RI — A Tiverton woman died Thursday night after her car struck a tree and caught fire, according to police.
Police said the single-car crash happened around 9:53 p.m. on Lake Road. When emergency personnel arrived, they found a gray 2014 Subaru Impreza, that had left the road, struck a tree, and was engulfed in flames. Police said the driver was trapped inside.
Officers and firefighters got the driver out of the car and brought her to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts, where she was pronounced dead. Police identified the driver as Jennifer Sylvia, 52.

Lake Road was closed in both directions for about three hours.
