3 Warwick Police Officers Save Man From Watery Grave
The man's vehicle went into the water off Arnolds Neck Drive, police said.
WARWICK, RI β Three Warwick police officers pulled a man to safety after his car plunged beneath the water off Arnolds Neck Drive Saturday night.
Officers Matthew Maloney, Nicholas Manocchio, and Maxwell Neiley were sent to investigate a report of a submerged vehicle shortly after 7:15 p.m., the Warwick Police Department said in a media release.

"Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle approximately 100 feet from shore, with only the roof visible above the waterline. Witnesses on scene told officers they had observed a subject in the driverβs seat prior to the vehicle sinking," the release said.
"Without hesitation, Officers Maloney, Manocchio, and Neiley entered the water to attempt a rescue," according to the release.

"The water was dark, and they could not see into the vehicle," the release said. "After blindly searching the interior of the vehicle they were able to locate the sole occupant," 71-year-old Warwick resident Frank Davis.
The officers removed Davis from the vehicle and swam back to shore with him, the release said.

Warwick firefighter "immediately initiated life-saving measures," the release said. "Mr. Davis was transported to Kent County Memorial Hospital where he remains in critical condition."
The department "commends Officers Maloney, Manocchio, and Neiley for their bravery, quick
thinking, and heroic actions in risking their own safety to save a life under challenging conditions," the release said.

Their actions and dedication to public safety exemplify the highest standards of service," the release said.
