Assault At Warwick Courthouse: Cops

WARWICK, RI — A Lincoln woman committed an assault at the Third District Court Monday, police said.

Goretti Janeiro, 51, was arrested about 12:30 p.m. and charged with simple assault and/or battery, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

Court records show Janeiro had a Monday court date for a domestic violence case.

State police Lt. Col. Robert Creamer and the state police legal office failed to respond when asked for further information and the police reports associated with Janeiro's arrest.

The state police media release said Janeiro's arrest was the "result of Troopers responding to an assault that occurred at 3rd District Court."

"Janeiro was transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Women's Intake Center, where she was held without bail pending future arraignment," the release said.
