Warwick Man Convicted In Federal Court Of Trafficking Cocaine
The Warwick man received two kilos of coke in the mail, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
WARWICK, RI β A Warwick man was convicted in federal court to trafficking two kilograms of cocaine, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Manuel Jose Miranda, 36, pleaded Wednesday to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a medial release.
"In September 2024, U.S. Postal Inspectors intercepted a package addressed for delivery to Mirandaβs residence that was found to contain two kilos of cocaine," the release said.

"The package was resealed and delivered to the residence by an undercover Postal Inspector and remained under law enforcement surveillance until Miranda retrieved the package from outside the front door," according to the release. "As law enforcement began to close in on the residence, Miranda was heading down the driveway on a motorcycle. He was ordered to stop and get off the motorcycle. The parcel containing the two kilos of cocaine was located inside Mirandaβs backpack."
Jim Martin, the public information officer for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Rhode Island, failed to respond to a query about whether the package of cocaine mailed to Miranda bore a return address.

Miranda's sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 4.
