Fire Displaces West Warwick Family

The West Warwick Fire Department doused the blaze quickly but the house was still uninhabitable.

WEST WARWICK, RI — A Friday afternoon blaze left a Cross Bow Lane home uninhabitable, according to the West Warwick Fire Department.

The fire broke out shortly before 1:30 p.m., said Deputy Assistant Chief Eric Norberg.

The split-level, wood-framed house on Cross Bow Lane near Long Bow Drive was not occupied at the time of the fire, Norberg said.

The fire started in a bedroom and firefighters kept it contained there, he said

"The firefighters did a great job," Norberg said.

Still, the house was left uninhabitable, he said, and the Red Cross was working to find the family accommodations.
