Marijuana Testing Lab In West Warwick Gains R.I. State License
PureVita Labs on James P. Murphy Industrial Highway plans state-of-the art product testing for the cannabis industry.
WEST WARWICK, RI — A 6,800 square-foot facility “designed to be the premier cannabis and hemp testing and analytics laboratory in the New England region” has been licensed by the Department of Health to sample and test marijuana for potency and contaminants.
PureVita Labs, with its facility on James P. Murphy Industrial Highway, plans to offer rapid regulatory testing and consulting to the licensed marijuana industry in Rhode Island.
“PureVita Labs is turning the page in the Rhode Island marijuana story, allowing for increased testing capacity in the state, and more importantly, delivering safe, accurately labeled, and consistently manufactured medical marijuana products to patients and consumers,” the company said in a news release.

PureVita Labs was founded by doctors Jason Iannuccilli and Jonathan Martin and by PhD cannabis chemist Stuart Procter. The idea is to build the integrity of the licensed cannabis market in Rhode Island by offering consistent and reliable product testing, the company said.
“In response to consumer demand for a more refined and consistent cannabis experience, PureVita Labs is setting a new standard in testing,” stated Martin.

“We have worked tirelessly to build an ideal solution to the problems that have plagued the reputation and integrity of the state-licensed cannabis industries across the United States,” stated Iannuccilli. “High quality analytical laboratories are imperative to assure consumers of the accuracy of product labels, and they are the only thing that stands to prevent potentially-harmful contaminated products from reaching the public.”
Iannuccilli said the lab will help Rhode Island’s Medical Marijuana Program “achieve regional excellence so it might serve as an example of how this industry should function on a national level.”
The lab’s customers will include cultivators and dispensaries. PureVita will serve its clients while working in tandem with state regulatory bodies, the company said in its news release.
Representatives from PureVita did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It's not clear when the facility plans to open.
West Warwick Town Planner Mark Carruolo confirmed Monday that PureVita Labs has obtained its local approval from the Zoning Board of Review.
