West Warwick Baseball, Softball Training Camp Off To Strong Start In First Year Open
Terence Bain has a passion for baseball, and is using it to help over 200 children find confidence in the game they love.
WEST WARWICK, RI — Terence Bain has a passion for baseball. His time in the sport brought him success on the field as a high school hall of famer, as a successful Division I player at Norfolk State University in Virginia, and as coach at his Alma mater.
Now, Bain is using his knowledge and skills of the game he loves to help the next generation of baseball and softball players. In February, he opened Camp Bain Baseball & Softball Academy at 1237 Main St.
In his 21,000-square-foot facility, Bain trains players ranging from age 6 to those in adult leagues, along with the help of some former college and professional athletes. During instruction, Bain motivates them by letting them contribute to the vibe. He lets the kids blast their own music, allowing them to create a positive environment, where they can be their most confident when training.

"It’s rejuvenating for me to see, especially the younger ones, and see their energy to come in and practice and play," Bain said.
Camp Bain has two floors — one with nets, batting tees, pitching machines, and more set up for hitting — while the lower floor is a space dedicated for pitching and fielding.

The ample space allows Bain to host dozens of baseball and softball students at a time. It gives athletes a chance to focus on one aspect of the game, then rotate to the next floor, while a second group moves to the next.
"If you’re looking for a professional type environment to train your kids, this is the place to go," Bain said.
In fact, it is where Bain has his own son, Xavier Bain, train — as well as the rest of the Wheeler High School baseball team.
"Just having my son and having somewhere he can go and practice anytime we want, even at 10 p.m. sometimes, it's rejuvenating for me," Terence Bain said.
Between Providence's the Wheeler School, the Rhode Island Rays, and players in other AAU and recreational leagues, Terence Bain said he now has over 200 kids enrolled in his program.
And even with the vast playing space for children, Camp Bain also took the parent experience into account.
"We used to go to all these facilities, and there was nowhere for parents to sit," Terence Bain said.
So, Terence Bain created a room exclusively for parents to watch their children play in comfort. The room provides plenty of comfort and amenities. Features include comfy couches and chairs, a pool table, and a golf putting green, and windows to see all the action out of.

"I wanted to create a comfortable environment with stuff they can do and also enjoy seeing their children practice," Bain said.

Camp Bain's baseball and softball training programs are available in 10-month memberships, as well some shorter camps. Learn more about the program on Camp Bain Baseball & Softball Academy's website.
