Brother Murdered Brother: Woonsocket Police

One brother's head struck the pavement when he was punched by the other brother, police said.

WOONSOCKET, RI — A Woonsocket man murdered his brother by punching him and sending his head down to hit the pavement, police said.

Alexandro Cortes Teron, 49, was charged with the first-degree domestic murder of his little brother, 46-year-old Luis Cortes Teron, the Woonsocket police said in a media release.

The Woonsocket police were called out to the area of the Court Street bridge about 8 p.m. Friday for a report of a fight and found an unresponsive Luis Cortes Teron, the release said.

Luis Cortes Teron was taken to Landmark Medical Center where he later died, according to the release.

Alexandro Cortes Teron and others were still in the area when officers arrived, police said.

"Detectives conducted their investigation with the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office," the release said, and determined Alexandro Cortes Teron "punched his brother in the face causing him to fall back and strike his head on the pavement."
