Woonsocket Mayor To Welcome Business With Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome Interiors by Glo will take place on Feb. 3.

WOONSOCKET, RI — Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt will welcome a new small business to Woonsocket with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m., said a news release.

Interiors by Glo, a full-service home decor studio and workroom, is owned by longtime Woonsocket resident Gloria Ayotte and will be located at 275 Social Street. The business will offer interior and exterior home decor products, design consultation services, expert sewing and fabrication, and custom items for the home.

"Woonsocket is not typically viewed as a home decor destination, but Gloria's welcoming presence, positive attitude and high levels of design and fabrication skills will make us one," said Baldelli-Hunt in a statement.

"It is important that small, locally owned and operated businesses establish and succeed in Woonsocket because they offer the unique products, services, personal attention and community spirit that you just cannot get from a big box retailer," she continued. "More and more small businesses are investing in Woonsocket even during this pandemic and my administration is dedicated to their success whether in assisting them with a permit or grant application or with helping to get the word out about what they offer."

Ayotte said she is opening Interiors by Glo because she wants to help people be happy about the place where they spend most of their time and make quality home design affordable.

"Come in and talk to me about your small and large projects," she said. "The phrase 'I cannot do this' does not exist in my vocabulary and if you have a picture, clipping or even an idea of what you want, bring it in and we will get it done at a price you can afford."

Although the ribbon cutting will take place this week, Ayotte will delay her open house until Monday, March 15 from 3 to 6 p.m. due to COVID-19. As a way to honor frontline workers and first responders during the pandemic, she will also sponsor a blood drive through the Rhode Island Blood Center in the parking lot of her business. Blood donors will receive a gift certificate for a 10% discount at Interiors by Glo.
