Woonsocket Primary Election Results 2024: Ward Leads Mayoral Race

WOONSOCKET, RI — City Council President John Ward and Mayor Christopher Beauchamp appear to be moving on to the general election, according to unofficial election results for Woonsocket Tuesday night.
The key contests in Woonsocket Tuesday were the mayoral race and the Democratic primary for State House of Representatives in District 51 and State Senate in District 20.
For Woonsocket, which has nonpartisan elections, three candidates were on the ballot for mayor: Mayor Christopher Beauchamp, City Council President John Ward and Keith Harrison.

Woonsocket’s race is a little bit different compared to other cities. In their case, the candidates who placed first and second advance to the November election.
Polls closed at 8 p.m. As of 8:25 p.m., 100 percent of the precincts had reported for Woonsocket, with Ward leading with 1,472 votes. Beauchamp had 1,085, and Harrison had 136.

In the race for the Democratic primary for State House of Representatives in District 51 were Robert Phillips (incumbent) and Garrett Mancieri. Phillips ended the night with 396 votes and Mancieri had 330.
On the ballot for State Senate in District 20 (Woonsocket and Cumberland) was Denis Collins — who is on the school committee in Cumberland — Marian Juskuv, and Brian Thompson, a city councilor in Woonsocket. Thompson ended the night with 746 votes, Collins had 142, and Juskuv had 32.
