Alleged Attempted Ashley Hall Shooter Indicted on 4 Federal Charges
A federal grand jury indicted Alice Boland on four charges Wednesday

Alice Boland, the Beaufort woman accused of attempting to shoot school officials at Ashley Hall, was indicted on four charges by a federal grand jury in Charleston Wednesday morning.
Boland, 28, is charged with making a false statement in order to purchase a firearm, illegally possessing a firearm because of her status as a person who had been previously committed to a mental institution or who had been adjudicated as mentally incompetent, possession of a firearm in a school zone and attempted discharge of a firearm in a school zone, according to a statement issued by the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina.
If convicted Boland faces up to 10 years in prison on both charges of making a false statement to purchase a gun and of illegally possessing a firearm. She also faces up to five years on each of the other charges against her, and the sentences resulting from convictions on either charge of possessing a firearm in a school zone and attempted discharge of a firearm in a school zone can not be served concurrently with any other sentence, according to the U.S. Attorney statement.

On Feb. 4 Charleston Police responded to Ahsley Hall for a report about a woman with a gun on campus. Boland was arrested on the sidewalk on Rutledge Avenue, just outside of school grounds, according to a Charleston Police Statement about the arrest.
The case against Boland was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Charleston Police Department.
