Lowcountry Lowline breaks ground downtown after decade of planning (thedanielislandnews.com) — Work is officially underway on Phase One of the Lowcountry Lowline, a 1.6-mile pedestrian and bike corridor running under I-26 from Mount Pleasant Street to Line Street in downtown Charleston. 4. Charleston County schools face widest racial achievement gap among SC districts (live5news.com) — Charleston County School District currently has the widest racial achievement gap among South Carolina’s largest districts, with white students testing near the top statewide while Black and brown students lag in the bottom tier. Local leaders and Superintendent Anita Huggins acknowledge the problem, citing slow progress and new efforts like school turnarounds and expanded early childhood programs, and urging residents to stay engaged year-round.
   

5. Katie's Krops launches new initiatives for 2026 (postandcourier.com) — Katie’s Krops is expanding its youth gardens and food access work across the Lowcountry in 2026, including new garden sites open to groups in Charleston County.
