Charleston Democrats Celebrate Obama Victory

A crowd of several dozen Charleston area Democrats erupted into celebration when MSNBC projected Pres. Barack Obama won a second term

Dozens of Charleston County Democrats packed into the International Longshoremen's Association Hall on Morrison Drive to watch the elections results roll in Tuesday.

Around 11 p.m. the entire crowd erupted into cheers and applause when MSNBC first projected that Pres. Barack Obama had crossed the 270 Electoral Vote threshold needed to win re-election.

Obama's vote share was smaller than it was in 2008 when he was first elected, but the President was able to carry Charleston County again like he did in 08.
