Charleston Police Foil Attempted Armed Robbery in Ardmore
A pair of Charleston Police officers on patrol were in the right place at the right time to stop an attempted armed robbery on Sequoia Street Monday night
One man is behind bars and police are searching for his alleged partner in an attempted armed robbery after the two tried to stick up a man on Sequoia Street in front of two police officers Monday night.
Terry Jamar Simmons Jr., 21, of East Surrey Drive in North Charleston, is charged with attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
The Department also has issued a warrant for attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime for a second man, Bobby Eugene Warthaw, 25, of Dowling Road in North Charleston, who is alleged to have been involved in the foiled robbery attempt, according to a CPD statement.

Around 10:15 p.m. Monday, a pair of officers on patrol in the Ardmore neighborhood saw two men approach another man who was standing in the middle of Sequoia Street, near the intersection with Balsam Street, according to the statement. The officers turned on the blue lights in their cruiser when they determined at least one of the approaching men was armed with a handgun.
Both men fled on foot down Sequoia Street toward Evergreen Street, and headed in opposite directions at the intersection. Officers caught up with Simmons next to the back of a home on Balsam Street, according to the statement.
