Charleston Police Searching for Missing Man

Charleston Police and other area agencies are searching for a 54-year-old who went missing from the Stono Marina last night

Wednesday night around 11 p.m. was the last time anyone heard from Charles Dale Fernell, and now Charleston Police Harbor Patrol, the Coast Guard, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and Charleston County Volunteer Rescue are searching for him in the water near the Stono Marina, according to a statement issued by CPD Public Information Officer Charles Francis.

Fernell, 54, works at the Stono Marina and lives on a boat docked there. His son last saw him at the marina between 10 and 11 p.m. Wednesday. He is described as a white male, weighing about 170 pounds, wearing a long sleeve blue button down polo shirt with the sleeves rolled up, greenish colored khaki shorts and blue Sperry’s, according to the statement.
