County Council Appoints New Board Members
Charleston County Council filled several board and commission vacancies on Tuesday and sent recommendations to Gov. Nikki Haley and County Treasurer Andrew Smith for appointments to other positions

The Charleston County Council filled eight vacancies on six county boards and commissions on Tuesday.
Terry Brown and Patty Tennant, both of West Ashley, were appointed to the Charleston Center Advisory Board.
Gordon McCay, of Mount Pleasant, was named to the Business License/User Fee Appeals Board.

James Henderson Martin, of Mount Pleasant, is now a member of the Board of Assessment Appeals.
Gary Durgin, of Awendaw, was made the newest member of the Awendaw Consolidated Fire District Advisory Board.

Leonard Scott Kirby, of James Island, joined the Charleston Development Corporation.
The council also sent recomendations for four Charleston County residents' appointment to two other boards and commissions to Gov. Nikki Haley. Brian Agnew, of Mount Pleasant, Elizabeth Burke, of Kiawah and Catherine LaFond, of Charleston, were recommended for seats on the Disabilities and Special Needs Board.
West Ashley resident Wendell Glover was recommended for a spot on the Saint Andrews Parks & Playground Commission.
Seven other county residents were recommended to Charleston County Treasurer Andrew Smith for positions with the Charleston County Firemen’s Insurance and Inspection Fund.
Donald Hollingsworth, Edward Padgett and Charles Oshinsky were named to represent the James Island Public Service District. Sam Brownlee, H.B. Limehouse, Jr. and Richard Thomas were picked as representitives for the Saint John’s Fire District. And Paulette Pop was chosen to represent the Saint Paul’s Fire District.
