Don't Forget About the chARTwalk Sunday
Second block party fundraiser for Charleston Art Outdoor Initiative begins at noon Sunday
CHARLESTON - The Charleston Art Outdoor Initiative (chART) gallery in Alicia Alley in the Avondale Point Business District has grown from a single mural earlier this summer to include almost two dozen pieces, and Founder Geoff Richardson has more planned, including an expansion across Savannah Highway into the alleyway between Mellow Mushroom and Voodoo Lounge and Tiki Bar.
To help fund the ongoing effort to bring art to the community chART is hosting another block party in Alicia Alley noon - 5 p.m. Sunday. Some of the artists will be working on their pieces while during the event and Richardson and the volunteers helping run chART have set up some entertainment as well including a DJ and break dancers.
Two of Charleston's many food trucks, Hello My Name is BBQ and Diggity Donuts will also be in attendance in the parking lot between Poe Studio, Gene's Haufbrau and The Roost, as well as several vendors including several of the chARTists whose pieces have already been completed.
