Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:
- The Charleston Fire Department responded to an abandoned home fire downtown on Monday. The incident occurred in the 30 block of Reid Street near America Street at 2:30 p.m. The fire, unfortunately, caused damage to a neighboring building before crews were able to contain the flames. Residents at the neighboring building have been displaced. (Live 5 News)
- As of Monday evening, the Charleston County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing 16-year-old. Jalik Washington went missing from his home on Monday on Donwood Drive in nearby Ladson. The department has no reason to suspect foul play is a factor at this time. Community members are asked to contact the department with information about Washington's whereabouts. (ABC News 4)
- The City of Charleston reports the iconic Angle Oak tree has withstood Hurricane Ian. The 500-year-old tree currently stands at 66.5 feet tall and 28 feet in circumference. There have been no signs of damage at this time. (WBTW)
