Election Shennanigans Discovered in West Ashley

Messages for Democrats to vote on Wednesday found at Doschers IGA Grocery Store

Small slips of paper with a message to Democrats to vote on Wednesday were discovered at the Doschers IGA gorcery store on Savannah Highway Monday.

Store employees found several of the slips left throughout the store and informed the Charleston County Democratic Party, which has a West Ashley office nextdoor. The slips read:

Due to an overwhelming voter turn out expected Tuesday Nov. 6... All Democrats will need to vote on Wednesday November 7 between 7 AM and 7 PM

"It is repulsive to see this kind of last minute attack," Charleston County Democratic Party Chair Richard Hricik said. "The GOP and their supporters consistently show they aren't interested in fair elections or the will of the people."

Hricik sent out a press release detailing the misinformation campaign and reminding voters election day is Tuesday, Nov. 6.

"For people who believe that malicious voter intimidation and misinformation campaigns are urban myths, I have personally just seen slips of paper that were placed throughout the West Ashley Doschers IGA telling Democrats they are supposed to vote on a later day," Hrick wrote.

He praised the employees and management at Doschers for recognizing the voting shennanigans and quickly responding to collect all of the slips in the store.

"Doschers was on top of it, and was taking them up where they found them," Hricik said.

So far Hricik is not aware of any other locations where false information on voting may have been distributed.
