Fire Marshall Still Investigating Ashley Arms Apartment Fire

A fire that destroyed one apartment and damaged three others at off Ashley River Road Tuesday remains under investigation by Charleston's Fire Marshall.

The Red Cross put up 15 people including an infant, nine children and five adults in an area hotel following the blaze. The family of three whose apartment was destroyed also received financial assistance to replace lost food, comfort kits and referrals to Red Cross partner agencies for longer term assistance, according to a Red Cross statment.

The fire was spotted Tuesday afternoon by a neighbor. No one was home in the apartment where the fire originated.
