Firefighters Save Elderly West Ashley Woman from Fire

Charleston Firefighters saved an elderly woman trapped in her West Ashley home by a kitchen fire Wednesday

An elderly West Ashley woman was trapped in her home by a kitchen fire when Charleston firefighters arrived at her Armstrong Avenue home Wednesday morning.

The woman wasn't injured, but the power to the home had to be turned off, according to Live5News. Charleston Fire Department spokesman Mark Ruppel told Live5News this is the second time this week that the Automatic Aid system has ensured a quick response to fire emergencies.

The Automatic Aid system ensures that the closest fire company to any reported fire or emergency automatically responds, regardless of municipal boundaries.
