  1. Former U.S. poet laureate, Billy Collins, will be speaking in North Charleston on Thursday, Sep. 15. Collins will be speaking at the Bonds-Wilson campus and is offering a free public poetry reading at 6:30 p.m. Seating will be limited. Collins served as the U.S. poet laureate between 2001 and 2003.   2. Jurassic Quest will be at the Charleston Area Convention Center between Oct. 14 and Oct. 16. The traveling dinosaur exhibit features life-size dinosaurs. There will also be themed rides, crafts, bounce houses, kid-friendly activities, and photo opportunities. Click for tickets. (Holy City Sinner)
  3. The Charleston County Public Library and the Lowcountry Food Bank have teamed up to expand the after-school snack program. The partnership will be offering cold dinners at two library branches and snacks at five library branches. There will be nutritious options available like yogurt, cheese, and fruit.
