Here are the top three stories today in Charleston:

  1. Charleston County has approved its new greenbelt program. The project will protect the county's natural green spaces. The program has six approved projects — two on Edisto Island, two in North Charleston, one on Folly Beach, and one in Hollywood. The county has approved more than $7 million for the projects. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. The Charleston Police Department reports that Harper Lawrence-Weiland, 19 years old, has been arrested for making threats at a bar on Hanover Street. He has been charged with carrying a concealed toy pistol and possession of beer by a minor. His bond has been set at $514 and is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center. (ABC NEWS 4)
  3. The City of North Charleston is planning to sell its old City Hall to Roper St. Francis Healthcare. The building will be sold for $9.2 million. The sale will bring a major hospital to the city. The sale will need to be finalized by the North Charleston City Council. (Charleston Post Courier)
