Alleged Gunman Attempts Robbery at Avondale Subway

A man allegedly armed with a handgun attempted to rob Subway on Magnolia Road Thursday evening

Charleston Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob Subway in the Avondale Point Business District Thursday around 8 p.m.

According to a police statement the man, described as a black male approximately 22-25 years of age, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, with a heavy build dressed in black clothing and wearing a mask. Police said entered the restaurant through the back door and was armed with a gun.

The sub shop's manager, who was working at the time, ran out the front door when confronted and the would-be robber was unable to remove any money from the register before he fled the scene through the back door of the store, according to the statement.
