Haley Not Among Subpoenas in Ethics Investigation

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley was not among the 11 people and multiple documents receiving subpoenas following a S.C. House Ethics Committee meeting Thursday.

The Committee issued subpoenas for Michael J. Biediger, President and CEO Lexington Medical Center; Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina; William “Billy” D. Boan of McGuire Woods Consulting, LLC; James D’ Alessio, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina; Tony Denny of Denny Public Affairs; Robert B. Ferrell, Vice President CDM Smith; Gregory P. Harris; Earl Hunter; Dan E. Jones, Chairman Lexington Medical Center; John S. Rainey; and Thad Westbrook.

The Committee also issued subpoenas for several sets of documents. It wants everything dealing with the S.C. Department of Transportation from 2007-2009, and everything dealing with the S.C. Department of Agriculture from 2004-2010 from Wilbur Smith & Associates, Inc. It also wants everything dealing with Haley's employment with Lexington Medical Center and everything "between, from, to, and among Nikki Haley and Lexington Medical Center."

Other subpoenaed documents include everything delaing with Haley's employment with Lexington Medical Center Foundation, everything "between, from, to, and among Nikki Haley and Lexington Medical Center Foundation, the Foundation's tax documents from 2006-2010, all documents dealing with expenses of the Lexington Medical Center Foundation from 2006-2010 and all documents identifying contributions to the Foundation by Time Warner Cable, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina, Comporium, Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative, AT&T, Check into Cash  of South Carolina, Michelin of North America, Advance America, Bank of America, Tony Denny, Bristol-Myer~Squibb Foundation, Dan E. Jones, and the South Carolina Credit Union League from 2005-2012.

All documents dealing with Haley's employment and her correspondence from the Lexington County Health Services District were also subject to a subpoena.

The Committee also subpoenaed documents from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina, Time Warner Cable, Tony Denny and Denny Public Affairs, and Legislative Printing, Information & Technology Systems.
