Help Middleton Name the First Lambof 2013

Middleton Place's Name the Lamb contest begins today

The first lamb of the season was born on Feb. 18 at Middleton Plantation, and the Middleton Place Foundation wants the public's help choosing a name for it.

The contest is open to the public with two ways to win tickets to the historic plantation property on Hwy. 61.

Rules for the contest are as follows (from the Middleton Place Blog):

1. The lamb is male, which will grow up to be a ram, so masculine names are encouraged.

2. The lamb's mother's name is Winter, and his grandmother's name is Noel, so preference will be given to names related to the winter season.

3. While voting by the public will weigh heavily in the process, the final decision on the name of the lamb will be made by Middleton Place staff.

Names can be submitted by adding a comment to the Middleton Place Blog Name the Lamb post, or in person at the Middleton Place Visitor Center. Submissions will be accepted through 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28.

Middleton Place staff will choose a winning name. The person who submitted the winning name will be awarded two passes for free admission (if more than one person submits the winning name, a winner will be selected at random from those who submitted the winning name).

On March 1, Middleton Place will open voting to the public on the top three suggested names on the Middleton Place Facebook Page starting at 11 a.m. Voting will be open through 5 p.m., Sunday, March 3. Everyone who casts a vote will be entered into a random pool drawing for another set of two Middleton Place passes.

The competition is already heating up as more than 30 people have already submitted names for the lamb on the blog posting.
